Hi Niyazahmed,

Mmm, that's an ambitious question!

The reality is that, in order to speak English with fluency approaching that of a native speaker, you would need an extended period of time in a native English speaking environment, with constant opportunities to interact with other speakers of the language across a broad range of situations. Just as importantly, the learner needs to be intrinsically motivated to develop and apply his/her language skills on a constant basis.

I have met non-native speakers who spoke with near perfect fluency after as little as five years in this sort of context. On the other hand, I've met people who could barely manage even the basics of a second language after 20 years or more living in a context where the language was spoken by native speakers.

So my answer (as brief as it might seem) is that you need both the right context and the right kind of person/learner.

Hope that answers your question!

Best,

~ Jason

P.S. Note that your question was specifically about achieving native speaker fluency, and my answer is based on that premise. I really want to add that it is perfectly possible to achieve great fluency in English without living (or even visiting) a native-speaking country, and I have met (and taught) plenty of people who have reached a great level of proficiency. In all cases you will still need an environment/context rich in opportunities to interact in and explore the language, and it is quite feasible to achieve this in places where English isn't necessarily the first language spoken.

hi to everyone! it is my first day on this forum and i see that it is very interesting and useful in the same time. I think that you can speak fluen english only if you are US or Great Britain, because you may hear how they pronunce the word and learn much easy when you speak it not when you learn it from book or something else.
Have a good day,
Dusea
