May 30 - Brazilian officials say the photographing of a rare 'lost' tribe of Amazon Indians deep in the rainforest will help safeguard their future.
They've released photos of alarmed tribe members pointing bows and arrows at an aircraft carrying photographers. Of more than 100 tribes who've had no contact with the rest of the world, experts say more than half live in either Brazil or Peru. Conservation groups such as Survival International say all are in grave danger of being forced off their land, killed and ravaged by new diseases.
Susan Flory reports.
SOUNDBITE: Lindomar Padilha, Anthropologist, saying (Portuguese):
"The most important thing is this is a new discovery. We're talking about a people that have a long residence - they were photographed in their villages - that's very interesting."

At the end of video, do 'monumental crime against nature' and 'four tribes are appealing the country to enforce international law to protect habitats of all indegenous people' have any correspondence? or are they independent?
Hi Jeheon,
Yes, the two are linked. The man claims that interfering with tribes or taking away their habitats is a "monumental crime against nature." Following that "advocates for the tribes..." (not "four tribes") are appealing to enforce international law to protect these habitats. The man who spoke previously is an example of an advocate, I guess you could infer.
So what's your opinion, Jeheon? Should these tribes be protected by international law? Why or why not?

Like dramatic images show, it makes us think there may be more isolated tribes somewhere in the world. In deep Brazilian forests, some indigenous people were out alarmed by the plane, which has never been thought this kind of thing exists in their world. a couple of experts suggest that they and their habitats should be protected by international law. Though they seem Okay in good health, they might be suffered from illness and other things.
I think it can happens all the time. I don't know how much thing the world know, but a lot of things haven't been yet discovered to us. This is for us to be challenged and try to find out mysteries. On contrary to this, human beings mustn't disturb orderly arranged other world, which is definitely different from our world and customs. I mean we need to admit what they have got. This kind of protection is necessary.
Very insightful and interesting response, Sung-han. I really enjoyed reading it and hearing your perspective.

People always talk about protection when they find something is different from the modern times. I am wondering what is protection. As my opinion, protection means don't impose your thinking or lifestyle on others in name of aid of heath care, modern transportation construction, human rights, etc. Don't disturb their life is the best way of protection.
Best regards,
Gavin
Hi Gavin,
Yes - I think it's important to define what we mean by "protection." Some people may believe interrupting these people's way of life could actually be protecting them, while others believe leaving them alone completely is a more appropriate form of protection.
It's quite a moral dilemma, isn't it?
