I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemies eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing:
"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"

One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt, and pillars of sand

I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can not explain
Once you know there was never, never an honest word
That was when I ruled the world
(Ohhh)

It was the wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in.
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People could not believe what I'd become
Revolutionaries Wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever want to be king?

I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can not explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
And that was when I ruled the world
(Ohhhhh Ohhh Ohhh)

Hear Jerusalem bells are ringings
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can not explain
I know Saint Peter will call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world
Oooooh Oooooh Oooooh

Cool! Thanks for posting this, Mich!

Is this Coldplay's latest single? It's quite different from a lot of their other songs, but I really like it.

What do you think the lyrics are saying, Mich?

Oh! Viva la vida!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This song is also in my mp3 player!! I don’t know what the sentence “viva la vida” means. (Actually, I have read this lyric just before…. T.T…) It has soooooooooooooo hard to understand. What do the lyrics mean? It means I can translate it superficially but I can’t find hidden meaning. Hehe.

Anyway, I really like its melody and rhythm.

Hey!

Eujin said that she had this song on her mp3 player, but it is first time that I listen this song. And, frankly speaking, it is also first time for me to watch music video that is from YOUTUBE.;;

And I was little surprised at the m/v scene that the singer suddenly stretch their arm like a bird.hhh..

Thank you for giving this chance to listen this good song.

This song sounds so familiar to me, but I don't know when and where I heard this from. Anyway, I've read this lyrics, enjoying listening this song. But,,, I don't know well what this song's words mean. I don't understand even this song's title.
After repeatedly reading this, I thought that this song's meaning might be related to one's life by the words "I used to rule the world, used to roll the dice and One minute I held the key". That is, the holder of our lives is us, as long as we are alive. I don't know if this is correct.. Anyway, this kind of song's lyrics are really profound and hard to think..
