Thank you all for your very hard work this term. You have inspired your professor with your positive attitudes and amazing work ethics.

I will be looking very closely at all performances from students over the next 1-2 weeks in order to generate final scores. Your participation and efforts (as well as attitude to learning) will play the most influential role in determining final grades. Please feel free to keep contributing any final comments or efforts for the remainder of this week. I will be trying to deliver extra feedback on writing course efforts throughout the winter, which is a bit of a case of "better late than never".

On a sad note, this is my final term at KNU, as I will be moving back to Australia with my family from early next year. It brings to a close almost 10 years of teaching English in Korea, with learners as young as 4 and as old as 50, so there is a certain sadness in leaving after such a long commitment to teaching in this country. I would like you to know, however, that as long as you remain a member of this forum and visit it, we can remain friends and put no final deadline on our relationships! I've enjoyed teaching all of you, and I hope we can all stay in touch for a long time to come.

With very best wishes,

~ Jason D. Renshaw

Saying farewell is always sad. It is something I can NEVER get used to. You said that teaching is the best job and I really want to feel that later on when I become a teacher. I can't imagine how worthwhile it might have been for you to teach for such a long time here in Korea. Thanks for everything and I wish you ALL the best.

Oh my god...
Is this real? It is really shocking. I heard that you leave Korea, but i thought it is just for travel.

Taking your class, i learned a very important thing for the good teacher. It is not about the English writing. One day, you said, when teachers make mistakes, they should be willing to throw away their pride and admit fault. It very impressive to me. I will alway keep in mind this.

Anyway, i hope that you and your family including new baby are always happy.
Thank you for your impressive teaching!!

How are you? I already miss you.

I have learned a lot from you for last several months. Writing many eassys in your class has improved my writing skill. And your feed back. Actually, we didn't do excessive works, but I got some important teachings in your class. Firstly, the more you write, write and write, the better your writing skill will be. All the students may already know this but it's really hard to do that by themselves. Once you said  that you practiced writing Spanish for 3 years. I was a little surprised by it and thought that practices and constant efforts are very important in improving our english skills.

Anyway, it was a kind of the nice thing for me to study with you.

Thank you again

See you.

Thanks for those nice comments.

Yes, the decision to finish was certainly not an easy one. This is a special department with very special students and great Korean professor colleagues. I would go so far as to say it is one of the best learning environments in this country.

It really is time for me to make a start on further qualifications, teaching experience in Australia, and getting my son home in time to start kindergarten there. It's also my wife's turn to focus on her study and career, so I will likely be "Mr. Mom" at home taking care of our two small children for a while... I will also probably start writing some new series of textbooks for some major publishers.

Who knows? I may return to this department some day. I'm 36 now, so there is plenty of time ahead of me. Of all the working experiences, fellow teachers and actual students I've been involved with over 10 years here in Korea, this time at KNU in the English Education department has undoubtedly been the best.

Hope that explains it all for you!

~ Jason

Oh, I've checked this now. Although I'm going to server in the army next January, It is unfortunate that next freshmans will not be able to take your class. I think you need some rest regarding your teaching period. My efforts here will work for my writing. Thank you for enthusiastic lectures.

I'm sorry to hear that you will go back to Australia. But your decision is to you and your family, so I understand. ^^
In this semester, teaching practical English that I took was good experience to me. Unlike any other classes, this class was good opportunity to know many peers who have same dreams as me. And your flexible way to teach us made me comfortable whenever I joined the class.
I'll visit this forum sometimes. ^^

Thank you and take care. ^^*

Oh, you will go back to Australia. I am very sad about that. If you taught a class next year, I would take your class. But I can't. But it's good for you to go back to your hometown. You maybe missed your family so much.
Anyway, thank you for your teaching this term and I am happy to take your class in this term. Thank you and take care!

I also thank you, Jason for your passionate teaching and sophisticated care for us. You have also inspired me with your energetic and interesting comments and action.

However, I am very sad to hear your news that is this is your final term and you will back to your hometown. Actually, Korea is not your hometown, so it is better to go back to Australia, your hometown for you. However, I am very regretful that you will leave KNU and Korea because we are getting along with each other little by little.

But, as you said, we can remain friends and I’m very happy to hear that you've enjoyed teaching all of us. Thank you, Jason and good luck to your future and your family’s happiness. I hope you will not forget me.

Sincerely

Jinmoo^^

I want to add some more comment after reading your second comment.

Actually I didn’t know your reality of the professor life in KNU and Korea. I can also understand your situation that is you are a husband and a father for you lovely wife and two children. I could know your hard time related with teaching in the university and other part time jobs which may be teaching English to people who are the students or not.

I am very sorry to hear that. And I’m sorry I don’t have the way to help you. The only thing that I can do is to wish your future better and happier. It is very interesting you will be "Mr. Mom" at home taking care of our two small children while your wife studies at a good university in Australia. My expectation was likely to be correct! That is, you must be a kind husband and happy father!

Anyway! My forever teacher, Jason! Good luck to you with all my heart!

Sincerely

Jinmoo^^

Oh... I feel so sorry that you go back to Australia. It must be hard for you to leave Korea, and it's also hard for us to say farewell to you. You were one of the best teacher who I've ever met. I learned so much from you.

No matter where you are, I will remember you for all the time and wish there would be only happiness in the future of you and your family.

Sincerely,

SeungUg

I'm very sorry to hear that. I have learned really many things from you in the English writing class and practical English teaching class. I'll remember you and the valuable, educational knowledge and methodology. I do believe that we can remain this relationship. I really hope that we can meet each other someday.

Undoubtedly, you are the best English teacher I've ever met. Thank you for your enthusiasm.

Is this your final term?
What a sad story! Although your lecture was a little tough, you were a great tutor and I liked it a lot. To tell the truth, I even hope that I will be able to have your lecture one more time when I finish my service of army. I wish you a merry christmas and have a wonderful time in Austrailia.

Sincerely,

Junho Lee

I've already heard about your leaving after the class. However, it is sadder than I thought.
Actually I really want to take your another class again in the next semester, but from now on, it could be impposible to take your class, so I feel really sorry about that.

I think I have been able to improve my writing skill through your class for one semester. Also, although we met just for 3 mounths, I felt you are very familiar with me. It was great time for everyone in our class to study with you and learn from you. I miss you so much and you will be the one whom I don't want to forget forever as one of my best teachers.

Sincerely,

Na-Hyun Song

What sweet comments from such sweet students!

From my perspective, you are and will remain my students. As long as you come and visit here from time to time, we can stay in touch!

From your perspective, just remember that the departure of one teacher is the opportunity to meet another one, who can bring different views and methods to your learning and increase the diversity of your experience!

Affectionately,

~ Jason

Oh, It was true that I heard!
I have thought we can improve much more than we used to now that we have a good teacher this year! I am sorry to say good bye but we should accept the reality. We, all your students, will be missing you very much!
Thank you for teaching us and I hope you will have good days in Austrailia.

First of all, I have already listened you will return to your home country. But I’m very sorry to hear this news again. I’m very sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will really miss you!! T.T

Anyway, this semester was very hard for me because of many homeworks that you gave to me. However, those were all worthwhile and helpful to me. (I can’t ensure quality of the homeworks which I submitted. ^.^;;) I can develop my English skills through your hard training. lol. Thank you for teaching me and improving my English skill.

I want to keep in touch with you through this forum.

I find your post late...The style of the forum is changed! It's very fresh~
I'm sorry to hear that you return to Australia, too..

Thank you for all your passionate teaching for this semester! I remember the first time of this class. You told us it would be very hard course and if we didn't prepared for that, we could cancel this course right that time. I'm not sure you said it for kidding or seriously, but I've been worried so much at that time :) But now, I think it was great decision to take your course. I don't know how much my English ability improved, but It helps me found my actual level of English composision, at least. It gives me direction to go forward. It is really great harvest!

Also, your advice which compares learning English with horse racing was very impressive. I decide to keep English diary from this winter vacation! It must be not easy because there's no one who instruct me like you and it depends on my will. But I hope to attain my goal as you did in your Swedish! (It was very surprising that you can speak Swedish~ It's really sad there was no chance to see you speaking Swedish:D)

I'll do my best for my extra comments and feedback! I wish to keep in touch with you in this forum!
