This forum has been set up specifically for people preparing for English tests and looking for study partners to help in their preparation.

You can start a study group for a particular test in general (for example, TOEFL or IELTS), or for a particular part of a test (for example, TOEFL Speaking or IELTS Writing). Remember that, in order to attract the right study partners, the more specific you are about the particular kind of preparation you are interested in, the more chances it will have of being successful!

To start your study group, just start a new topic. For the subject, provide your name (or user name) and an indication of which test or test part you are preparing for. You can then provide details about things like instant messenger or chat programs you are interested in using, and your time zone for best availability. You can also do things like post your own essay topics and give feedback to each other within your study group thread.

If, on the other hand (or in addition to starting a study group of your own), you are interested in joining somebody else's study group, you can post a message in the group's thread to introduce yourself and then start getting involved. Technically, it is possible for you to join as many study groups as you like in addition to hosting your own! Please just remember to be polite when posting in other people's study groups, and focus on being helpful as well as asking for help.

I will be adding some posts here from time to time to give you tips on programs and applications you can use to study effectively together.

Studying with other test takers is free, flexible, motivating and potentially a great way to make new friends. Make the most of it!

Best wishes,

~ Jason
