Solar panels were buil on the roof of the Cemetery in one of the Spanisah town near Barcelona. The energy generated from these panels can provide at least 62 families in the region. People think that it is a very good idea as it provides a clean source of energy, cut pollution and it does not disturb their privacy.

I think it is a great idea to build solar panels in the Cemetery, I believe that our country can take a good lesson from Spain. Cemetery usually have a lot of sun, threfore cleand energy can be generated.

Do you think is it a good idea to build solar panels in Cemetery?

Hi Niniprg,

I am always interested in reading your great summaries of stories from National Geographic. How proactive you are!

In response to your prompt, I think both solar and wind power are being massively under-utilized in our world, considering the tech know-how we now have at our disposal. Have you seen all those massive shiny skyscrapers in huge cities all around the world? Imagine if they were all fitted with thousands of solar panels, and had big wind turbines on top of them! How much clean, renewable power could that generate?

The story you reported on is a great example of how power can be generated for local (smaller) communities as well. I've seen other reports about how some towns make more power than they need from wind turbines, and actually sell it to other towns.

Keep up your great reporting - it's very impressive!

Hi Jason,

Thank you for your reply and given examples.

Recently, I have read an interesting topic about Native American's beliefs.
They believe, that we are part of the nature and that there are three laws of Great Live. The last law of a Great Life is ''do not pollute''. It says that people should care about their small community, country and be the part of the nature. Spain is a good example of this law, it started to work on development of clean resources of energy and partly becoming the part of the nature. You are right Jason, by mentioning that skyscrapers have been built all around the world, but still few of them are being built with the purpose of generating the clean energy. Unfortunately, solar panels and wind power are very expensive to build and therefore, government of many countries do not want to spend on it.

Is this really such a nice way of generating energy? I guess there are some disadvanages of generating energy by solar panel. As you know, technology of non-poluting energy is not perfect yet. So before I say 'this is good or not, I'd like to know about this more specifically. Anyway, as you know, in Korea, there is no natural energy and almost all of them are imported from foriegn countries. So I wish Korea's energy generating goverment studies about this a lot and make a similiar technic with this! It will help a lot!

How innovative it is! I've never thought about it. The vast width of cemetrey is not efficient at all but with sola panels, it will be changed into the great resources! Regarding Korean situation, it is even more useful because many parts of the mountains are coverd with tombs. It will be a kind of revolution. Thank you for sharing good video!

Hi everybody,

It was interested to listen to the video about solar panels. I got curious about the ratio between efficiency and cost. I know that the cost is really high. For example, I found out that in my country the National Commission of Atomic Energy is working in a spacial project along with NASA. It is building up solar panels to provide energy to a satellite called Aquarium. Each panel is made of 2000 solar cells and each cell cost $US 300. So, do the maths and you will find an amount of a million dollar without including the assembly. The lifetime is calculated in about 5 years. Maybe, these kinds of cells are more expensive because of the use they will have. Anyway, I learned that a solar panel made of 36 solar cells deliver electricity to charge a 12 volts car battery. In other words, 1 square meter solar panel produce 1000 watts if the weather is not cloudy.
I think this technology has a long way ahead and one day the ratio efficiency/ cost will be worth.
Besides, solar energy is not applicable everywhere, suppose that you want to install it in London. It will be a disaster; the sky is partially cloud most of the time. So, it seems that several factors influence the use of this kind of energy. To make the theme a little more complex, engineering are not sure if the cost of energy that is necessary to make one solar cell is less than the amount of energy than one cell is able to produce. So, I wish it could be soon when all of us will enjoy the use of clean energy as a principal source of energy.
Take car.

Hi Buenosaires,

I certainly agree with you that the production and installation of solar pannels are very expensive. I think due to that reason, governments of many countries do not want to invest in it.In our city, for example, solar panels are built up on several roofs of the buildings in the center. Whenever I across the bridge in the morning I can see the strong shining lights of that panels, and I can imagine how much of clean energy, they produce. I really hope that the number of these panels will be doubled in few years.
