Hi everyone,
I just want to thank Jason and all the people that help me giving me some feedback with my questions and essays.
I did the exam on January 23 and today I got the score of 103 (27 R, 28 L,24 S and 24 W).I was looking for 90 and a minimum of 21 in each section since it was what the university was asking me but I had a really nice surprise with this score.
Thanks,
Sofia.
Oh, good for you, Cou - that's really great to hear. I'm glad to hear this forum and its people may have played some small role in helping you achieve your goal.
Good luck for the university study - it's all downhill from here (so to speak!).
Very best wishes,
~ Jason
Congratulations Cou! I am a bit confused how you got your TOEFL score today if you gave your exam on the 23rd Jan. I mean I gave my exam on Jan 24th and got my score yesterday. ![]()
Anyway, all the best with your university study and ROCK ON!
Hello,
Congratulations Cou..!!!
I had an exam on the jan 23 rd,Today,I see that I got the score of 77 (19R,22L,18W,18S).Actually,I feel a little dissappointing about speaking and writing sections.I expect that they may be higher.Anyway,I think that I should try again because I need the score of 85.
I guess that I should improve my speaking and writing skills.
I want to consult everyone that interested in working ways on toefl test. What should I do?What do you think? What do you advıce me about this working?
Cou,you have a high score.Which ways can be useful for me while in working speaking and writing?
Hi everyone and congratulations to those who reached the score needed.
I am very thankful to Jason for this website and for all his efforts to help us. I have tried this test before, I got good scores but could not reach the 24 score in speaking that I needed. Thanks to Jason, my score this time is 27!
I took my test on Jan23. I apologize for not being able to be active on this site(I really do not have time, I am doing a million things at the same time). All I did is read and listen to Jason's hints and advices and applied them. On the test, I did not feel I did well, but today I am surprised with the result.
People who are still preparing, please practise and practise! do not give up. you'll make it.
Hello!
Congratulation Cou!!!! on ur success.
I took exam on 23rd,I received score yesterday, that is 85(R24,L22,S19,W20).I was disappointed with my score.I am unhappy with my speaking and writing score.this is my 3rd attempts, so I feel nervous right now.I need score of atleast 95 and above. This forum help me a lot to improve my English.anyway I need more practice and work hard to improve my speaking and writing skill.
Well done, Tofela - that's wonderful news! Congratulations on a great result.
All the best,
~ Jason
Congratulations!!!!! tofela and cou
Best of luck with the next step.
Hello everybody,
First of all, congratulations for all of you who received the desired score. I got my score yesterday, and I'm very dissapointed with my performance. Here is it:
R=29 L=28 S=18 W=24
I need 26 in speaking, but right now I feel like never I'll be able to reach it. Anyway, I have to start all over again (for speaking). I messed up the bips and the time allotted for speaking in the first 2 Q ( only because of my nervousness). Now, I'm thinking whether the IELTS test will suit better to me. Is there somebody who took the both tests ? What do you think ? Well, I searched the Internet and I found out that the reading and listening sections are a bit harder on IELTS ( this is how I feel). Still, is the speaking easier to get (for a 7 band score) on the IELTS than a 26 score on the TOEFL ?
Thank you in advance for any advice.
Hi cou, congratualations for the great job. It seems you answered the questions easily. I'm hoping to get a very high score for my exam especially the speaking section I need to get 26. I would like to ask if you answered all the questions in speaking task without stop or pause? Do you have any advise for us who will take exam? Hope to hear you soon. Thanks!
Halimuyak
I got my scores today too (from Jan 23rd)
R=30 L=30 S=27 W=25 total 112
Where did y'all take it?
Thanks for all the nice comments.
Answering the question "How did I prepare myself for the exam ?" Well, first I think I had a little luck with the exam because it was not really difficult for me. When I was study sometimes I had troubles with the speaking section understanding the lectures or I found the writing topics complicated, but on the exam I understood all of the lectures and I knew very quickly what to answer in the independent task.
Leaving the luck factor on the side, these are the things that I did to prepare the exam and also I keep doing to prepare myself for university:
1-First of all I study a lot and really hard. I spent at least 1 hour studding all the days.
2- I converted my life 100% English.
a- I started to speaking just in English even if I had the chance to speak in my native language if the person knows English I speak in English.
b- I watch a lot of documentaries, movies and series and I pay a lot of attention in new vocabulary.
c-I try to write as much as I can.
d- I started to read a lot more, I think that it's good to improve grammar, spelling mistakes and enlarge vocabulary.
3-More relative with TOEFL preparation
a-I did not have a lot of trouble with reading and listening. I just practice few exams.
b-Speaking: Jason's advices are really good and they helped me a lot to prepare my answers.
I think that question 1 and 2 are always similar and if you pay attention you can give the some answer to different questions.
Ex. What is your favorite place to visit on weekends
Where is a good place to have fun in your city or town?
Talk about an interesting tourist attraction you have been to
and even... What is your happiest childhood memory? can be related with a place where you used to go when you where a child.
With Jason's list of question 1 and 2 I ordered them by groups that have similar answer and then I used to have a much more fluent answer with new questions because I was always able to put them in one of the groups.
c- Writing. I followed Jason's advices and I practice a lot. I also used to read the essays that have some feedback from Jason. What it helped me a lot was going back to my essays after one or two days, I use to found a lot of mistakes that I did not find before.
4-I Keep practicing, specially writing to prepare myself as best as I can for the next step, college.
Well, I hope that all these advices can be useful to someone.
I'll try to keep writing in the forum and having an active participation, to improve my English and to help other.
Thanks again Jason, It's great to find people so dedicated to their profession like you.
Sofia.
Wow what a high score you got perfect score in listening and reading and total band score of 112. Hope to get that score too. What is your secret? Can you share your experienced about the exam? thanks!

hello everybody
i took exam on 23rd,I received score yesterday. But I'm dissapointed cause my score is very low, that is 49(R4,L7,S18,W20). I have never thought that i will get such a low score. I dont know what i am gonna do. I especially have expected more than 20 from listening section. I think there is a mistake ...R and L...
What do u suggest to me...I am really despondent now:((
thank u in advance for your replies...
I have my TOEFL tomorrow and I'm really anxious about it! My speaking is still very pathetic and I feel really helpless about it.Though I practiced a lot with audio CDs , my speaking is still very dismal! I realised that my thought flow is not smooth; with a lot of breaks and pauses!
I have to help myself in this... but I need your best wishes, nevertheless!
Shall keep you all posted about how it goes!
Best wishes to all:)
Hi toffylady! My exam is tomorrow too. I know what you feel, just stay calmed. Where are you going to take the exam?
Halimuyak
