Do you prefer learning by yourself to learning with a teacher?
We learn so many things from so many people and from so many circumstances. Learning is an ongoing process in ones' life .While it comes to studies ,learning by yourself or learning with teachers are both good ideas. Personally , I feel learning with a teacher is a better idea.
The chief reason for my view is that teachers are trained professionals who know how to teach to different kinds of pupils based on theirs IQs. Firstly ,we can learn something new when someone explains clearly about it to us .We tend to understand better only by listening to someone teaching us about it as we can correlate to what we are hearing rather than just simply reading from the textbooks. One more advantage is that teachers provide us with the information about which books to be referred. This could become difficult when we learn by ourselves as we are not sure about the books to be referred as there are so many books in the library.
The second reason is the atmosphere of the classroom which is more conducive to concentrate on what teacher explains and also we can clear our doubts right there which in case of studying by ourselves would be difficult. Studying by ourselves has its own advantages like there is no particular routine which we must follow and the atmosphere is quite and has no disturbances. But, with co-students around us in the school increases social interaction skills and teaches how to adjust.
Teachers are role models for the students. They help in molding the character of the students and make them better individuals.
In sum, I concur that studying with the teacher is a better idea.
Do
you prefer learning by yourself to learning with a teacher?
No one can deny the importance of learning whether it is by me or with a
teacher. As a student myself, I actually remember that all the learning process
in my life was with teachers or under their supervision and it is still the
same way till now. The idea of learning by me is not easy one. While there
would certainly be a variety of advantages of learning alone, surprisingly I
prefer to choose learning with a teacher. This is mainly based on my previous
experiments which support two reasons.
First of all, saving time and efforts. When there is a teacher who
explains and presents a course or information to students, then he/she saves
their time instead of searching to understand that information whether in the
library or in the internet and spending much more time. For example, when I was
in my undergraduate I take a course its name is thermodynamics, unfortunately
it was a self study course, I was spending on average two or three days to
accomplish one page from the course’s book. Personally, I don’t encourage this
strategy of self studying because that time I had a lot of things to do, let
alone the other courses and my job.
In addition to saving time, I think that attending a lecture is so
important. Why? Because the student could share his/her ideas with his/her
colleges inside the lecture, also he/she can practice brainstorming, team work
and discussion skills. All these practices could be grown and prosper by
attending lectures. Out of experience I can tell how much benefits I got from
attending my lectures, interestingly having very hot debates that open my mind
to more knowledgments.
In conclusion, for me personally, any learning process needs to be a
comprehensive and complete. Learning with teachers is one of the most important
ingredients for that process, let alone saving the students time especially who
are engaged with other commitments such as work, also bringing up their
abilities to discuss and debate which will strengthen their characters by all
means. Taking a long some of disadvantages of learning process with teachers,
but I don’t see any convincing reason that supports studying alone strategy.
