Hi there everyone,
Well, I've been quiet in this forum and on my iBT Speaking and Writing blog, but there has been a very good reason... I've been working hard on a new service called TOEFL Writing Mentor (basically in response to demand, as many of my TOEFL Speaking Mentor students have specifically asked for a similar service for writing skills).
As part of that service, there is an extensive array of writing tutorials prepared (some audio, some video-based, all supported with text notes). As a special favor to members of this forum, I am going to present some of those video tutorials here for you.
The first video below is a general introduction to the TOEFL writing section. Skip over that if you're already basically aware of the writing section, as the two videos following that deal much more specifically with the Integrated Writing Task (the one everyone seems to have the most problems with.
[Quick sidebar: I tried to make some video tutorials in a more aesthetically pleasing scene - next to the beach quite close to where I live, but some unfortunate side effects were some interruptions from the wind, a gradually reddening face as the sun began to set in front of me, then a darker image as the light began to fail ~ so sorry about that! I just thought it would be a nice change from an "office"-based video...]
Hope that helps and gives you some more ideas on how to approach TOEFL Writing!
All the best,
~ Jason
Hi, Jason.
I like these tutorials and the format that we can use for the integrated writing task. Very helpful and useful tips as those for the speaking part.
I defenitely think that after july 23, when students can get feedbacks for their essays, this site will be the best preparation source for both the speaking and the writing sections of toefl ibt.
Thanks again.
Thanks Sarra. Quick correction - the TOEFL Writing Mentor service will be available from June 23 (next week), not July 23 as initially indicated on the website. I got my months mixed up! Too much working too late at night!
Best,
~ Jason
Hi Jason, i will rather call you an angel. To be candid, i have never had the opportunity of knowing my weaknesses in my speaking except for your site and your feedback for my spoken responses. I am now energised with much more confidence to approach the toefl. To even know that there is now toefl writing mentor services gladens my heart the more. Bravo! Jason in your good works. hey jason,
I have been to your videos regarding the WRITING part. I got a doubt here. please rectify me .
Q: if we mention the statements that show the "reading passage", DON'T THIS MAKE A REDUCTION OF SCORE?
I will quote a example. U have mentioned in your example2 that "This directly challenges the assertion in the reading passage that thia influenza originated in and had it's earliest impact in spain" .
This is from contradicting to reading passage topic. please reply me.
In my first toefl exam i got a question in independent topic that " TELL ABOUT A PERSON YOU ARE HAVING EXACTLY SAME FEATURES ALIKE HIM/HER "
can you give me answer to this please.![]()
harika
Hi Jason,
Wel, I liked these tutorials. They are indeed helpful. But I wanted to know where can I post a few writings and practice so that I can review and increase my score.
Thanks,
Apoorva
while ı am looking for toefl exam ı found your web site..this is amazing..ı hope ı can improve my skills thanks to u...
thank you
Hi Jason,
I subscribed both your TOEFL writing and speaking mentor a few minutes ago. But I can't find the way to log in to practice or see the material in the mentor website. What do I have to do to get in? I'm in a hurry quite a bit because I'll take TOEFL on Nov14, and I'm now preparing for another two GRE test at the same time. And what if I'd like to subscribe the mentor plus too?

Hi Witchukorn,
As you already know via email, your memberships have been processed and your private portal pages configured and sent to you. :-)
Details about the Mentor PLUS options are given in your private membership page - you can find them there very easily.
All the best,
~ Jason
Thank you, Jason. I'll study the material there as soon as possible. And if I have further questions, I'll pose them in "Questions and Answers about TOEFL Writing Mentor" page.
