The lecture and reading passages discusses about the effect of Pop culture on the language use. The lecture gives extended examples to explain the message conveyed by the reading passage.

To begin with, the lecture states that in 80's the phrase "may the force be with you", used in the movie the star war's would have conveyed some meaning to the older generation, but today it has nothing to do with the younger generation. This gives sound example for statement made in the reading passage, that teenagers or different from their parents. But today's generation know much about  Harrypotter. Thus it shows how entertainment media has a affect on the language use among people of that era.

In addition, the effect of the Pop culture differ  from region to region. The lecture further adds some assertion to strengthen the reading passage by stating the phrase, "You hosier",which is used in Canada. But it has no meaning in the US or Britain even though all these countries have common language, English. This shows there is culture difference between them.

To sum the lecture provide enough evidence to assert that culture's influence on language use and the media acting  as a improviser.

We have here a nice discuss about the language and the influence that the culture has on it.
One question might be: Why this happen? Why the language can identify a new generation?
To start with this analysis, would be interesting to state, that the language has a close interaction with one's culture and education. I think that this can be explained, if we think about a professional lawer who spend 8 hours at work daily, compared with a street dancer who like the rap.
Of course their expressions and thinking ways about some events, will be different. since their backgrounds are. The language so, it's a way that the human has to express himself, and as the humans like to consider unique, easily the language evolutionates in order to show that differences exists among people.
Nobody likes to fell himself like a mass, but we love to be differentiated among others. we like to distinguish from the rest, and one way we achieve this, is trough our language.
When you go the west you can notice that those people speak the english in their own way, and they are proud of that.
That's an example how the people wants to be different trough the language. That's why I think the language has evoluted troughout the time.
Famous movies's phrases, like "May the force be with you" and many others have a special meaning for people from nineties, but for our current teenagers it means almost nothing.
As our thoughts, our language has a lifespan that sometimes can pass over our generation, but most of the times, can't.
As a conclussion, as humans we use our language as a way to express our culture, values and beliefs, in the aim to differentiate from the rest, however, it doesn't remain forever, it becomes old fashioned or forgotten by the time.

You need to seriously think about your approach to the integrated task. Please pay careful attention to the TOEFL Writing Mentor tutorials and examples, and also compare your approach to the other students' essays in this forum (especially those that got good scores). A major problem for your writing is that you are "flying blind" at the moment and can't learn from the samples you see around you...

The reading passage presents how the pop culture effects the language used between generations and how it can not overcome other countries' popular cultures. The professor agrees this assertion and illustrates it by giving examples.

To begin with,  the professor points out that popular culture governs our daily life, especially our speaking. He exemplifies it by stating the statement "May the force with you.". He tells that it was a popular idiom in 70s when it was first formed in the movie Star Wars in 1977. It was representing 70s generation both in Britain, Canada and USA. However, he claims that in this time, for many teenagers it has a little meaning and reports that in this generation the popular expressions are from the movie Harry Potter. This casts an agreement on the argument in the reading passage that points teenagers who are affected by popular culture dont use the same expressions even with their parents.

In addition, the professor finishes by asserting that popular culture varies in different countries. He gives an example with two idioms which are originated from Canada, but not be used USA or Britain despite all of these countries have the same language. Therefore he accords with the reading passage, since in the reading passage claims that popular culture differs from country to country, for they all have different media.

Excellent effort - just a little more detail needed for the second idea (you perhaps dedicated too much time/detail to the first idea!)

The article states that pop culture influences to language that human use in their culture. The lecture provides some examples to support these arguments.

To begin with, the lecture states that there is a phrase “may the force be with you” from the “star wars” movie in 1977 that every people in that generation in most of western countries can understand the meaning of it. However, this phrase is less meaning for today. Currently, people are influenced by words or phrases from another movie such as “Harry potter”. This information from the lecture support the point in the reading passage that important source of pop culture which can impact to the language human use is movie. Moreover, any impacts from pop culture will change from time to time.

The reading article claims that some popular culture from one country may not influence to culture of other countries. The lecture provide example to support this claim. The professor says that there is popular Canadian comedy program in . It provides some word that is very popular in and every people can exactly understand these words. However, these words is less meaning in Australia.

The reading passage discuss the influence of pop culture language toward other nation around the world, however the listening section contradicts with the reading.

To begin with, speaker points out that the language that use in one region or country has not frequently use today. He gave an example of one phase from Star War Movie in 1977 “May the force be with you” which is use widely in Britain, Canada and USA but not today language. His opinion casts dubts in the reading passage which said that, language which are from entertainment, literature and sports are different that parents language.

Another point is, the reading passage said that the language use in pop culture is widely separate in another isolated culture around the world. This seems to refute with the opinion of speaker. He claims that the language which is use in Harry Potter in Britain is not known in Canada. The culture has their own way to refine language to their society.

in this set of materials, the written expression and the lecture discuss the inflence of the pop culture and the time or the era on the slang or the elloquent language expression of the people in the country. Both the reading and the lecture agree that pop culture with the era have a great influence on the language. The listening lecture supports the reading lecture by giving an examples.
To begin with, the listening lecture states an example of how certain period of time have different language expression with in the culture. For instance the expression" may power be with you" defind the starwars era of 1980. This expression is not understandable in our current era or it is not used. This example supports the reading lecture discussion of how the teenagers use different expression from their parents.
In addition to the time the pop culture that is famous in certain place affect the language expression of that place. This means that even inside the same nation or even if different nation speak the same language. The listening lecture support this claim by using an example of expression used in canada but not in United Kingdom or Austuralia where in fact all these nations speak English language" your hoze take off away." That's agree with what the reading lecture claims that the media and the effect of pop culture affect the language even if the people live in the same country , speak the same language but they live faraway or there are boundariers that separate the cities.

Hi! this is my response to integrated writing task question 2:

The reading passage explains a phenomena about the pop culture and it's influence of language diversity across the nations. Similarly, the lecturer supports the idea presented in the reading article.

To begin with, the professor points out that in our regular routine and daily interaction, normally language is the primary medium to relate and understand one another. Basically, pop culture is the product of accustomed language in different country and it's meaning varies from one culure to another. This is related to what the reading passage stated that daily interaction from different sources such as entertainment, literature and sports will give influence to the young people nowadays.

In addtition, the lecturer presents some examples of pop culture based on the past era as of 1977 as illustrated in the movie star wars. This depicts some phrases wherein the meaning of a certain phrase becomes different from the modern generation. On the other hand, in comtemporary times, the movie Harry Potter is known as an example of language in camparison to Star wars wherein certain phrases may appear of different meaning. This example is related to the reading information about the teenagers who have adopted some expressions from their external environment apart from the inherent language taught by their parents.

Finally, the professor asserts that commonly in certain countries such as in English speaking areas, they have different language adopt based on their ways and manner in expressing their communication while in other countries such as Canada, Australia and Britain, it appears that they have different meaning from the phrases adopted by English speaking countries. Of course, it's true that there are culture diversity across the globe that makes some language unique and oftentimes lead to awareness and sensitivity to other culture.

In considering the phenomena of pop culture, the lecturer finishes by asserting that despite the variation of language globally, it is important to to know the boundary set in certain country and it's respective culture. As a result, different kinds of vernacular terms or phrases  have been become a norm and accustomed to each  nation while certain meanings seem to be different to others.

Be careful with simple language errors, and make sure you quote specific examples with a lot of accuracy. Otherwise, I'd suggest some simple paragraphing to better illustrate your breakdown of main points.

It's probably too long and detailed (could you realistically write this much in just 20 minutes under exam conditions?), but you've missed some key opportunities to integrate clearly across the two sources.

Integrated Writing Task 2, Question 1

The reading and the lecture passages discuss the issue of language differences.
The professor is enumerating further details ans shows antother axamples to illustrate the specific points presented in the reading passage.

To begin with, the professor points out the first point of the reading passage with the daily situation of everyone. He says, that nowbody realize or think about the pronounced words. So we indirectly take on new modern words from music, movies or sport events. These are the reasons why the words become famous in a big part of area.

As a next example the professor makes reference to star wars, the movie from 1977.
At this time - when the movie was in and became cult - a mount of people in the western countries like Britain, Canada and USA used the indicated special language independent of different countries and cultures.

Furthermore, the lecture explains the faster influence of the modern time today.
He shows, that the young people acquiere another language than there parents in their younger days.
Hes assert is an another comparison to the reading passage.

The last part of the lectur utilize the comedy programm in Canada like a evidence to state the different development of the accents between countries having the same language. The differents in accent couse misunderstandings in humor for British and Australian people.

The reading passage draws on the different cultur barriers given by media or area distance.
The lectur complete this thesis supporting  the respect of still existing language barriers in the world.

The lecture and reading passages discusses about the effect of Pop culture on the language use. The lecture supports the reading passage by giving the several examples.

To begin with, the lecture states that the phrase "may the force be with you", used in the movie the star war's in 80s. That would have conveyed some meaning to the older generation, but today it has nothing to do with the younger generation. This gives the example for statement made in the reading passage, today teenagers are different from their parents. But today's generation influenced much about  Harrypotter. Thus it shows how entertainment media has a affect on the language in different countries of people.

In addition, the effect of the Pop culture differ  from region to region. The lecturer gives the another example some assertion to strengthen the reading passage by stating the phrase, "You hosier",which is used in Canada that could not understand by US or Britain people even though all these countries have common language, English. This supports the theory pop culture's language is vary in different counties.

To sum up, the lecturer provides enough evidence to assert that culture's influence on language used in vary in different countries because media acts on differently according to their culture's.

The reading passage discussed about how pop culture can influence the language use of certain cultures. The lecturer supports the statement in the reading passage and provides a few examples to demonstrate the points made in the reading.

To begin with, the reading passage asserted that people tend to adapt to the pop culture, such as entertainment, literature and sport, which is famous in their era. The language expressions that young people these days use differ from what their parents use.  In support of this, the lecture mentioned how ‘May the force be with you’ expression from the 1977 Star Wars movie was widely used in the older generation in western countries, such as Britain, USA and Canada; while expressions from “Harry Potter” movie is more likely to be used in current generation. They might not even know what 'May the force be with you' is.

Subsequently, the reading passage claimed that although highly popular event may be able to cross national boundaries and reach all around the world, many pop cultures stay within one country due to the limitation of media’s ability to spread the hype.  The lecturer also agrees with this point.  As an illustration, he mentions that ‘You hoser’ and ‘Take of e’, two Canadian popular terms that derived from a local comedy series, is not used in Britain, USA and other countries  because they never seen nor heard of the TV program. Thus, these two expressions are used only in Canada, which further support the theory stated in the reading.

The reading and the listening passage discuss the phenomena of pop culture and the causes language  diversity of understanding  among nation.

To begin with, The professor provides example  phrase, " God be with you" This phrase was taking in the star wars movie in 1947. This statement was popular and had meaning during that era, However, same phrase was not popular expression in 1980's. This example concurs presented in the initial reading passage, which claims that young generation using words and expressions that was not popular during their parent's time.

In addition, the professor also explains that Great Britain , Australia, United states and Canada speak in one dialect, which is an English. However, There is be a words or phrases that the professor mention, for example, '' the hosier"   this statement was taken from the popular comedy program in Canada, For the Canadian,  this words has meaning, however in the other English speaking language country,  the statment "the hosier" is meaningless. This points made from  professor  convey  the ideas in the reading passage that there is diversity of language due to limitation of media and the geographic differences.

The lectur and the reading passage are discussing the popular culture's effect on language. They both agree that culture is shaping our everyday language.

The professor is pointing out that the phrase 'May the force be with you' from the movie Star Wars in 1977 to a great extension was used and had a meaning in Britain, Canada and U.S.A in the 80's. The professor claim that today, this phrase will have less meaning and people will tend to quote Harry Potter instead. This support the reading passage, which clamis that teenagers use a different language compared to their parents generation.

According to the professor, language, which are affected by the popular culture, can remain within countries and their respective culture. He examplifies this by refering to a phrase that originated from Canadian television and was common used in Canada. However, this phrase had no meaning in England or the United States. This is supported by the reading passage, which are saying that language use will be different from culture to culture because the same media is not available in all cultures and countries.
