The passage presents the case of the ship Mary Celest, claimed to be the original ghost ship and numbers a few possible explanations. The lecturer disputes the passage's explanations and presents his own.

To begin with, the lecturer refuses the theory of mutiny suggesting that the captain Benjamin Briggs was an experienced and good captain and that the crew respected him. This comes to oppose the passage, where the captain is presented as strict.

The lecturer also rejects piracy as a possible explanation. He claims that David Gracias, the captain of the ship that found Mary Celest, was a close friend to Briggs and that all the belongings of the passengers were on board when the ship was delivered. Also, the court couldn't prove any involvement of Gracias to the incident. This seems to cast a doubt on the argument of the passage presenting piracy as an explanation.

The lecturer finishes by suggesting that the captain and the crew fled the ship in the fear of an explossion or fire due to fumes from the 9 empty barrels found in the cargo. He adds that the captain never transfered alcohol before thus he was inexperienced with this kind of cargo. He explains that they might have opened the holes for the fumes to clear out and then paniked and left the ship on a boat. He presents as possible cause of death drowning due to a thunderstorm or starving to death.

The reading passage tells us two theories about the mystery of the ship Mary Celeste. The listening passage, however, disputes these theories and presents another one.

To begin with, the person who is speaking, tells us that there are many theories about the mistery of the ship. The reading passage claims that one of the possible reasons of the mistery is a mutiny or that the peopel, who found the ship, were the responsibles. The professor, however, challenges these assertions. He states that the captain on board was very experienced and had a good relationship with the crew. In addition to that, there were no personal belongings found on the ship – not even the pipes of the crew. The professor concludes therefore that the two reasons presented in the reading passage don’t tell the truth.

In addition to that, the professor maintains another theory about the mistery. The main fear of the captain and his crew was fire on board. As there was a lot of alcohool on board, the possibility of an explosion was quite likely to happen. So the professor assumes that the captain and his crew left the boat on little ships because of fear of a terrible fire. Afterwards, the whole crew got either in a storm and disappeared, that means they sunk, or they starved due to not having enough food with them. To sum up, this theory contradicts the reading passage totally.

The reading passage states that the possible causes that make a mystery of Mary Celeste are munity or piracy. However, the lecture refutes these arguments.

To begin with, the article claims that the crew killed strict captain, Bejamin Briggs, and his family. Then, their corps is thrown to the sea and the crew use lifeboat to escape from the ship. Professor disputes this claim. He says that captain Briggs is an experience and respectful captain. So, it is very difficult that the crew would murder him and his family. Another important evidence for this is the crew did not take anything belong with them not even pipe before take the lifeboat.

The professor also says that the ship that found the Mary Celeste was lead by the captain who is known the friend of captain Briggs. Therefore, it is very difficult that this ship is pirated. This casts doubt the point in the reading passage that the crew on the ship that found the Mary Celeste may have killed every crew and passengers on the Mary Celeste.

The professor thinks that the possible theory of the mystery of Mary Celeste is explosion of alcohol that this ship carried. The evidences of this are nine of 1701 barrels of alcohol in the cargo of this ship were found empty and the crew open the hatches and potholes to air the ship after the explosion was occurred. Moreover, the German historian presents his experimental that alcohol that explodes on the ship will not destroy or damage the ship. However, the captain and the crew did not know this information. They feel nervous when they saw the explosion on the ship. So they must abandon the ship very quickly. In addition, these abandoned crew and passengers may encounter storm or starving that make them are gone.

A good account, and well-expressed, but a little too vague and 'over-summarized'.

The reading passage presents some reasons for mystery of Mary Celeste, the ship that was found abandoned off the coast of Portugal. The peofessor, however casts doubt on the reading passage by explaining some evidences.

To begin with, the professor points out that the ship's captain was a very experienced man and he had a good reputation in cahrge of crew members. He states that none of personal belongings of the crew even their pipes were stolen. This refutes the assertion in the reading passage that there was a mutiny aboard the ship and the crew killed the captain.

The professor then states that the captain of the other ship that found the Mary Celeste was a good friend of captain Briggs and they could not find eny evidence of violation in the ship. This opposes the reding passage that calims the ship and the crew that found the Mary Celeste were responsible in killing the ship's crew to collect the reward for finding a missing ship.

Finally, The professor talks about some other factors that sound more suspecious about the ship. He explains that suspection of an explosion from leaking of alchole from some barrels may made the crew nervus and made them to open the hatches and then leve the ship by lifeboats. The crew then were killed in a storm or because of drawning or starvation. He also talks about a model experience about the explosion that could happen in the ship, because of alchole leakage,. without damage to the ship

The reading passage presents the story of Mary Celeste. Researchers and historians consider her mysterious ship tale as a ghost ship. However, the listening passage contradicts with the reading, the professor mentions that the ship had incident during its travelling, he demonstrates some reasons to prove that Mary Celeste Ship is not considered as Ghost Ship.

First of all, the speaker points out that Mary Celeste ship was not attacted by piracy, beecause Benjamin Brigg was a good captain and in charge crew, who got well reputation. Also, the sailors did not bring anything with them. In addition, Glacia, a crew member, did not do anything harmful to Brigg. This casts doubt on the point in the reading passage that Mary Caleste Ship was attcted by piracy. They killed a captain Brigg and threw him to sea. More than that, sailors along with this ship stol some valuable things from the ship.

The professor also claims that the Captain Brigg had never carried alcohol, so it was his first time to do it, that’s why he was so nernous. The number of 9 barrel, 1701alcohol on a ship were emty, because they bring alcohol with them so it created some bad air to the ship. That’s why the crew member tried to open the hatches and portholes to get some air.  The explorsion casused from the alcohol was likely possible. Therefore the captian and other crew member left boat and this boat flew to the protugal itself by the direction of storm. The German scientist experimental research have shown that, the explosion from alcohol may not be badly damamge ship. This refutes with the reading passage that the crew boat took some valuable with them and destroy evidence by killing the passengers. The british court was investigate this accident and try to punish those people in the court.

You've reached a lot of conclusions that are erroneous according to the actual materials, and many of your details are completely wrong. From what I can see, your listening comprehension and note-taking during the lecture could be the issue here...

Reading passage discusses the reasons of the sink of “Ghost Ship” that left New York for Genoa in 1872. However, the professor casts some doubt on the reasons that presented in the reading passage.

Firstly, the professor begins by stating Benjamin Briggs was a very experienced captain. According to him, the crew of the ship had good reputation. In addition to that, sailors left all their personal belongings on board. These points contradict with the assertion in the reading passage; namely, the crew killed the captain.

Secondly, the professor explains that  the captain of the ship that came across with the wreckage of Ghost Ship, was a good friend of Benjamin Briggs. This assertion strongly challenges the idea in the reading passage that suggests piracy as the main reason of the Ghost Ship incident.
Finally, the professor states that leaving the ship on life-boats out of fire suspicion was the most reasonable cause of this situation. He explains that, nine of the 1701 barrels of alcohol, which were highly likely the main reason of alcohol fumes, were found empty. Stating that fire was the greatest fear on voyages in those days, the professor also disputes the other related assertion in the reading passage.

The lecture and the reading passage discuss the topic of the mysterious disappearance of Mary Celecte which called the ghost ship. This ship, which was on a journey from New York to Italy, was found deserted near the coast of Portugal. While the written article offers theories to explain this issue, the professor casts doubt on them as they are presented in the reading.

To start with, the speaker illustrates that the captain of Mary Celecte was very experienced and his crew respected him a lot. Therefore, the theory stated in the text that a mutiny took place on the ship and the crew killed the captain and his family off the board of the ship could not be true.

In addition to that, the lecturer asserts that the ship was loaded with 1701 barrels of alcohol. He claims that there was leak of alcohol from nine of these barrels, which were found empty, and as a result the flammable fume made the captain scared of a fire to catch the ship so he ordered the crew to open the hatches and portholes and eventually they abandoned the ship. This information seems to refute the assertion in the reading that pirates invaded the Mary Celecte and killed every one on board and stole it.

Furthermore, the professor argues that the captain of the alleged pirate ship was a close friend of the captain of Mary Celecte, Bemjamin Briggs , hence it is impossible to attack his ship and kill him and hid family.

The article tells about the mystery of  Mary Celeste theory. However,  the lecture presents several key points asserted in the reading passage.

To start with,  The professor says that the captain of the ship is having a good reputation and respected by his crew members and also good captain to his fellowmen.  He claims that there is no reason why the captain and his family  killed by his own crew. Another thing,  he claims that the captain and the crew members denied bringing of things belong to the ship, such as pipe. These claimed asserted by the professor casts doubt of what the reading claimed.

In addition, the reading states that there is mutiny and piracy about the mystery of Mary Celeste.  However,  this theory denied from the listening passage.  The professor says that there is no evidence found that captain Benjamin and his crews killed by his friend Gracia. Also, he says that  no valuable things were taken by his friend. these claimed made by the professor is contrary to the reading presented.

Finally, the professor finishes by explaining that thousands of barrel of alcohol carried by the ship is the causes the explosion of Mary Celeste. He also mentioned that crew members and the captain were panic and they escaped with the life boats from the burned ship. Apparently, they were lost and died because of the big storm and starvation in the sea. these claimed also casts doubt what the reading passage asserted.

The reading passage presents explanations for the mystery of the Mary Celeste. However, the professor refutes these arguments.

To begin with, the lecture states that Captain Briggs was respected and very experienced, which leaves little motivation for mutinity as the reading passage claim. More over, the lecture ponits out that the passenger didn't take any of their personal belongings. This seems to dispute the reading passage, which claims that the passengers left the boat after killing Captain Briggs.

In addition, the lecture claims that the finders of the ship were in fact friends of Captain Briggs. Additionally, there were never evidence to proove that the crew, who found the ship killed Captain Briggs and his passengers. This casts doubt on the reading passage that says that the finders of the ship killed people on board, took valuables, and brought the ship to Portugal to get money for it.

A more reasonable explanation is that captain Briggs and his passengers were frightened when they saw the exhaust fume from the many barrels of alcohol they had in cargo. Expecting an explosion, they fleed from the ship in life boats, leaving their personal belongings and were killed at sea from hunger or drowning.

The reading article rules out important theories about the mystery ship of  Mary Celeste which was abandoned in 1872 off the coast Portugal. However, the lecturer casts doubts about the findings presented in the reading passage.

To begin with, the professor asserts that the issue of piracy or mutiny does not seem plausible in this case because Captain Benjamin Briggs was an experienced and has reputable disposition in life. So, this seems unreliable that their is a piracy on board occured. On the other hand, the reading points out that one of the crew killed the captain and his family.

In addition, the professor mentions the possible explanations about Mary Celeste tragedy occurred. The first finding is that they found out that their 1are 1701 barrels of alcohol and nine were empty. So this theory supports that their was an actual leaking of alcohol in the cargo and this result to possible danger. Since this is the first time that the captain encountered to have these cargo on board, everyone got panicked. On the other hand, the reading stated that the out of 1701 barrels of alcohol nine of which are empty.

Finally, another theory mentions in the lecture, while they found out that their is leaking of alcohol and will disperse powerful fumes in the ship, they decided to leave the ship by taking their lifeboats to escape the danger of fire. This supports the findings that the open hatches and portals to release the air made by the leaking of alcohol. This theory cast doubts in the reading because the crew who found the ship are held responsible for the victims because they beleived that they took allt he personal valuables before they killed the crew not to show evidence and eventually claimed that they found the missing ship in the area of Gibralta.

The professor finishes with a conclusion that the mystery of the ship, Mary Celeste is primarily due to imminent danger forecasted by the Captian Briggs that will result to an inevitible fire and explosion leading their way out of the ship and eventually imperil their lives in the sea.

The reading passage discusses the mystery of the Mary Celeste ‘ghostship’ by giving two explanations of this mystery. However the lecturer disputes this assertion by giving contra arguments with supporting details.

The lecturer starts that the captain of the Mary Celeste ship was a very experienced captain, and was confident about his crew. These means that there was no mutiny on board of the ship. Also the captain of the ship De Il Gracia, which found the Mary Celeste was a friend of the ‘ghostship’ captain, and couldn’t kill him for a reward. All these evidence make the theory described in the reading passage to be wrong.

The lecturer gives a more trustful theory. The Mary Celeste had never transported an alhocol products, and the crew was nervous about it. The alcohol bottles were not packed sufficiently, and fumes started to go out. This caused a dangerous situation for the crew of the ‘ghostship’, but for the ship. The crew opened hatches and portholes. These evidence explains why the ship was found with opened hatches and portholes. However, all crew activities were unsuccessful, and they had to leave the ship on small boats. The could be killed by the storms, or they could be sturving and had a dirst. That’s why nobody were found.

The reading passage explains some possible theories about the mystery of the Mary Celeste. The professor, however, disputes this argument.

To begin with, the professor points out the captain, Benjamin Briggs, had good reputation among crew members. According to the professor the crew did not have any personal problem with the captain and he was also a friend of captain. Therefore, the crew is not suspecious at all that killed the captain. This casts doubt on the point in the reading passage that the crew killed the strict captain.

The professor also claims that it is possible that the ship was exploded. He argued that it is possible that transported alcohol leaking during voyage and this leaking alcohol provided a fume which exploded and damaged the ship. This would seems to cast doubt on the argument in the reading passage that because, nine of 1701 barrels of alcohol were found empty therefore, the crew is responsible of the captain’s death.

Yes - sorry about this! I had a wisdom tooth pulled out suddenly last week and it put me completely behind in my checking/scoring schedule for bothTOEFL speaking and TOEFL writing! I am catching up on it, though, and expect the marking/scoring to return to its regular schedule from this week!

Thanks for your understanding,
