Do you agree or disagree with following statement? Advertising influences people's behavior in a negative way.

Nowadays almost all people on the Earth are affected with media whether it would be a morning newspaper or liquid crystal display of one's TV. And the one of the most powerful tool of media is advertisement.
On the one hand, commercial is extremely useful in order to everyone knows about trade products. Almost everything is sold now, and the easiest way to sell goods or service is to inform everybody about those products or service. For example, usually I observe booklet with goods for sell prior to go shopping. And I beleive that majority of purchasers do exactly the same.
On the other hand, advertisment can harm human beings. Some people becomes too addicted to commercials,and they sometimes replace real needs with needs that come to them from outside - from the TV screen or from internet. Advertisment often teachs everyone how to want more,more and more. Indeed, my friend have been living for about 22 years without computer and haven't been felt bad on that point. However, during last 2 years he has wanted to buy a personal computer more and more intensively due to informanional pressure from TV screens, flyers, newpapers, and,finally, from his friends who are affected with media too. Eventually, he has bought laptop and has immersed into the virtual plane of reality. As a result, now he has problems with his study at the university.
Personally, I would agree with statement that advertising influences people's behavior in a negative way. However, I would like to say that, mainly, it depends on person as well as someone can just stand up from his( her) lazy chair and turn off the TV.
In conclusion, I can assume that adertisement as well as media in general are sort of temptation that programs people's behavior and leads them far away from themselves.
