In the events of history, time has never witnessed so rapid and tremendous changes as it has changed now. These changes are certainly due to advanced technology and it has directly influenced the lives of people. Impact of television or movies is also one of the same aspects.

Primarily, the television offers many choices to the people as it is a twenty four hours service in some countries. This full time service of television has altogether changed the life of people. It affects and interferes in their daily routines. As people become accustomed to it they choose their favorite shows and adjust other things according to the timing of the show. Whether it is good or bad for the society depends on the type of show itself. Even if the show is good but one thing for sure is that it is going to consume some time.  It is the teenager group which gets greatly influenced by television and especially by movies. They start mimicking the actors on the show or movie. Sometimes they become so addicted to the shows or movies that they start entertaining themselves wrongly. If given freedom such guys tend to watch movies with obscene scenes that can badly influence their little minds and occupy them in some dirty business like cyber crime.

The second influence of this technology is that many teenagers are so much attracted towards the showbiz that without knowing their future in the entertainment world some of them leave their studies in between to join the same. Imagine what is going to happen to the country when fifty percent of its population is interesting in joining this business. Besides this the movies and other shows on the television play a major role in their routine lives. It takes me at least two days to get normal in my daily life if I happen to watch any tragic movie even though I am not habituated to watch television regularly. The impact of regular watchers can be detrimental and sometimes unexpected too.

Television has some good effects as well. Nowadays advertising has become very easy through television. People have become much aware than before about certain issues like pollution, child education, equal rights for women, right to vote because of the frequency and quality of the ads provided in the TV. Some movies too have an influential effect on people’s behavior. For example I was thrilled by the brilliant performance of one of the Al Pacino’s blockbuster movie- Scent of a woman which has won the academy award. The movie is about a college student who works as an assistant to a blind, old, short tempered, retired army officer. I was moved by the final phase of the movie which includes a nice dialogue delivery by the army officer. “I don’t know if Charlie’s silence here today is right or wrong. I am not a jury or a judge. But I can tell you this. He won’t sell anybody out to buy his future”. The movie turned out to be one of my favorites and I find an inspirational note in it.

Overall it can be summarized that television and movies together have bad as well as good effect on the behavior of people but what to watch and what not should be the advice of an expert.
